Four linear cubes representing Boats were raised above the ground to maximise views at the Ground level into the river. The Boats appear to be floating off the ground when viewed from the river, where boating is a major tourist attraction. Hence the name ‘Floating House’. These linear cubes are walled on the external surfaces to give privacy from the surrounding warehouses and buildings.  

Containing the house on site with privacy from the surrounding structures and not disturbing the river view was the main challenge and also a key factor in the design. We wanted to have uninterrupted views of the river when one enters the compound, when one enters the house and all the Common Areas and Bedrooms. The lower floor, with uninterrupted views to the river houses all the common areas and day spaces. The Upper Floor houses the Bedrooms and their supporting activities.
